The two-day event, held at AX ODYCY’s Luzzu Hall in Qawra, gathered payment specialists, fintechs, iGaming platforms and regulators from across Europe to explore the next wave of financial innovation.
Shahrukh Saud Khan, Head of Customer Success at OpenPayd, joined a Day One panel focused on cross-border payments. He spoke about the real-world challenges faced by platforms scaling across borders—and how OpenPayd’s infrastructure is built to solve them.
“Today’s winners in payments aren’t just disruptors—they’re collaborators,” Khan said. “At OpenPayd, we partner with firms that want fast, flexible access to accounts, FX and global payment rails, without reinventing the banking wheel.”
On Day Two, Lara Barbuto, Director of Compliance and MLRO at OpenPayd, spoke on the importance of proactive compliance in fast-moving sectors. She made the case for embedding risk and compliance teams early in product development to streamline decision-making and support commercial agility.
“When compliance is brought in late, it becomes a blocker,” Barbuto said. “When it’s part of the foundation, it becomes a strategic advantage.”
