Winter Olympics brings the new technology exploring the better future urban life plan worldwide

January 28 22:24 2022

Preparing for the Winter Olympics might explore a better future urban life plan for the world. The Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games (hereinafter abbreviated as the Games) will adhere to the “green and scientific and technological Winter Olympics”. China will combine high technologies and ultra-low energy consumption to build a green and environmentally friendly intelligent Winter Olympics service system and run highly technology-driven Games. Innovative technologies are also reflected in all aspects of the Games.

Ice and snow are the main features of the Games. Special artificial snow is used as the primary source of snow for the Games. The Chinese people have independently built ice snow tracks with different climatic conditions through domestic professional monitoring equipment for various venues. “Ice cube” is the first carbon dioxide transcritical direct cooling ice-making field in China, and it can realize the free conversion between curling field and speed skating field. Mainly, Chinese technologies provide a green and efficient model for constructing ski tracks in the “post-Winter-Olympic era.”

The application of cloud broadcasting technology in the Games also reduces the investment in broadcasting vehicles and related equipment. The 5G and cloud networks integration gives the Winter Olympic Games a lightweight feature. The 5G network-supported private media network, featuring low delay and large bandwidth, can realize low millisecond delay multi-view switching of ice and snow events of the Games and Paralympic Games. Meanwhile, it offers the 360-degree free view of 4K image quality, “bullet time” wonderful playback, 8K Virtual Reality (VR) ultra-high-definition live broadcast, and other innovative viewing experiences. It can also provide fantastic interactive multi-dimensional ice and snow sports viewing experience for the audience.

In Shougang Park, where the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games Organizing Committee is located, Shougang Group has established an automatic driving service demonstration area with Tsinghua University and other institutions. The park’s open roads and inner roads have realized the full coverage of all-day-long multi-vehicle L4 class crewless automatic driving vehicles, including seven types of driverless automobiles, such as uncrewed buses, unmanned sweepers, driverless vehicles, and intelligent shared cars.

Hydrogen fuel cell buses with low hydrogen consumption and high safety and environmental adaptability will also serve the competition areas of Zhangjiakou and Yanqing District and help build a barrier-free environment for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
