3D Hubs appoints former Unilever VP, Sarah Newbitt, to board as company doubles revenue despite pandemic

October 27 17:36 2020

Amsterdam – Europe’s leading online manufacturing platform, 3D Hubs, today announced Sarah Newbitt, former UK Vice President of Supply Chain at Unilever, as the latest addition to the board. This new appointment follows the company’s sustained growth, having doubled year-over-year net revenue in spite of COVID-19.

Having spent a total of 25 years at consumer giant Unilever, leading manufacturing and supply chain in Global, European and UK roles Newbitt joins 3D Hubs as a non-executive board member. She will advise the company as it seeks to further transform and modernize companies’ manufacturing supply chains.

Sarah Newbitt shares:

“I am delighted to join the board of 3D Hubs. It is such an exciting company with the potential to transform supply chains in the manufacturing sector.”

Having Newbitt onboard signals the next stage of development for 3D Hubs. Despite much of the traditional manufacturing industry struggling since the coronavirus pandemic outbreak, 3D Hubs has thrived, producing over 1.5 million custom parts, posting a record number of active users and practically doubling in net revenue.

Interest in online manufacturing solutions, in general, has soared over the past year, with startups in the field raising over $456 million in funding so far in 2020.[1] COVID-19, it appears, has acted as a catalyst for digital transformation in the manufacturing industry, as resource-stretched companies lean toward lower costs and faster, more reliable turnaround times – only possible with an automation-based online platform.

From 3D Hubs CEO and Co-founder Bram de Zwart:

“Although 2020 has been tough for the industry as a whole, we are proud to be one of the few companies that has experienced significant growth in these trying times and see it as strong validation of our business model. To have someone like Sarah, with her incredible wealth of expertise, join our board not only underlines that, but also sets us up to successfully pursue our ambitions in 2021.”

The addition of Sarah Newbitt to the 3D Hubs board marks an important step for the company as it continues to drive the automated manufacturing future.
