Michael Egleton’s recent book, Slow and Steady Sets the Bass, recounts the compelling, compassionate, genuine, eye-opening, inspirational & personal story about the hope, faith, and transformation of a black man growing up in rural Barberton, Ohio.

As America is in the midst of a renewed fight against injustices and the black community moves toward shared healing and equality, we need to remember the value of the tradition of sharing our stories, passing down our lessons, and celebrating our cultural successes. Michael Egleton’s recent book, Slow and Steady Sets the Bass, recounts the compelling, compassionate, genuine, eye-opening, inspirational & personal story about the hope, faith, and transformation of a black man growing up in rural Barberton, Ohio.

Michael reflects on the challenges he faced and shares his insights, lessons, and values. His driving motivation for writing his story was to advocate for and educate black men by imparting lessons he’s learned – sometimes the hard way – through the first 61 years of his life. The book offers a touching tribute to his late grandfather Bishop David Egleton, a mentor to both Michael and Touchdown Billy Taylor. Bishop Egleton was central to Barberton’s community, culture, and helped Michael to become the man and the award-winning, critically acclaimed artist he is today.

Grow with him through his fascinating life story — from his childhood days in a small Ohio city to his fame as a blues, soul, and jazz artist. The influences of family and the church are profound forces for the artist behind jazz hits like “Baby, Baby, Baby”, “Behind these walls”, and “Situations” which have been played on radio stations around the world. Both his book and his soulful music reflect the joys, sorrows, challenges, and rewards of the pursuit of and rise to fame and fortune.

He shares deep insights and wisdom about the music industry (the good, the bad, and the ugly), and gently teaches valuable lessons that are sure to benefit other aspiring musicians. All of Michael’s life experiences and lessons have shaped him as a musician and are reflected in his music. His story sends a clear message that it’s never too late to pursue and achieve your dreams, whatever they may be, and Black Lives matter, so tell your story.

The book is available online at Amazon on Barnes and Noble or wherever books are sold.
